TRYOUTS
2023

AFHA general tryouts for the 2023-24 season have been completed, and we would like to thank all those who participated and congratulate you on your placements!
While teams have largely been set, we will continue to look to fill a number of spots throughout the organization. Please be on the lookout for info regarding additional supplemental tryout sessions.
The Foxes would also like to extend a sincere Thank You to all of the coaches and parents who helped out with set-up, check-in, and player evaluations - particularly Chris Skwortz and Josh Gialloreto, who spent countless hours at the rink almost every day throughout the month of April, oftentimes very late into the evenings. Your dedication to the Foxes is very much appreciated!!

ARCTIC FOXES
HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
To our Foxes family,
It is with great sadness that we must pass along the news that on the evening of March 22, 2023 we tragically lost one of our 18U players, Luke Cooper, in a fatal car accident. While this was Luke's first year with the Foxes organization, he had spent most of his life on the ice and had a deep passion for the sport. Anyone who had the pleasure of seeing him play could easily see the smile on his face and tell that he was a kid who loved hockey.
Because of his ties to other organizations, Luke had friends on numerous teams, so we know that this loss extends to many people in the hockey community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother Joyce and his brother Clayton, as well as the rest of his family and friends.
To commemorate Luke's life and his love for the game, we are asking you to put your sticks out for Luke and leave on your porch lights as together we mourn the loss of this amazing young man.
If you are able, please consider supporting Luke's family here:

Sincerely,
The Arctic Foxes Hockey Association

2022-23 BANQUET
Thank you to all who celebrated with us at the 2022-23 End of Season Banquet, celebrating another successful and fun-filled season of Arctic Foxes Hockey!
Many thanks to all those who helped to organize the event, and a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Bethany Klisavage for spearheading the efforts and ensuring that the return of the banquet was a great success!

BOARD UPDATE
At our most recent Board meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Glenn Birkenfeld as AFHA President, and elected Alicia Genco as its new President. Glenn will be remaining with the Foxes - in fact, he is slated to be the head coach of the upcoming season's 18U-2 team - but felt it was time to step aside and make way for a new era of Foxes leadership. We wish Glenn all the best!
Alicia has been with the Arctic Foxes since the 2018-19 season. During that time, she has been a Team Manager for various Girls, Squirt, PeeWee, and Midget teams, and has served on the board of directors for the past 3 seasons as the Team Manager Coordinator. All three of Alicia's children have played with the Foxes over the years, and currently her 12-year-old Niko is a 2nd-year PeeWee and set to be a goaltender on the PW1 team.
Thank you Glenn for your service to the organization, and we wish you the best in your "retirement". Congratulations Alicia, and we look forward to many great, successful seasons under your leadership!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Arctic Foxes are currently looking to fill open seats on the AFHA Board of Directors. If you would like to discuss how you can help, please email info@arcticfoxeshockey.org, or reach out to a current Board member.
If you would like to lend a hand but are unsure about sitting on the Board, there are other ways you can help! The Foxes are always looking for people to pitch in on committees/areas such as PR (newsletter, social media, bulletin board, etc.), Events Organization (banquet, season kick-off party), Tryouts (check-in & organization, coaches), Disciplinary, and Fundraising.
As a volunteer organization, the Arctic Foxes relies on it's members' generous donation of their time and efforts to keep things running. With your help, we can continue to make the Arctic Foxes the premier youth hockey destination in the Pittsburgh area!
